AdFunnels.com

Our Philosophy

Why AdFunnels.com is in the PremiumBrands collection, and the test I use before building on any name.

PremiumBrands.com is my collection of premium names, each presented with a starter site and a few possible directions, for founders who want their first name to be the one they keep. I would rather a founder see what a name could become before deciding than pick one from a spreadsheet. AdFunnels.com earned its place because two words from everyday paid-media talk cover the entire stretch of work between an ad and the sale that follows, and a name that does that in nine letters is exactly the kind I look for.

Lessons from Newswire.com

In 2007 I acquired the press release distribution business running on i-Newswire.com. In 2013 I secured iNewswire.com, and I kept going after the name the business really belonged on. Getting Newswire.com took more than a year of negotiating, and before moving an operating company I consulted SEO professionals first. In February 2015 the business moved to Newswire.com. Renaming a company that already has clients, links and a reputation is slow, careful work, and a founder who starts on the right name can skip it.

The morning of the switch, a prospect told one of the sales agents, “Oh yeah, Newswire.com. I’ve heard of you guys.” That was impossible: the business had only just moved to the name. The category word had made the introduction on its own. That call is a big part of why I take first impressions seriously, because so much of one is settled before anyone reads a word about the offer.

Why I bought PremiumBrands.com early

I bought PremiumBrands.com before I had a plan for it. Premium names matter to me, and I knew that if I waited I would probably lose the chance; by now it could belong to someone building on it, and a name in that position is most likely not for sale at all. The same thinking decides what stays in this collection. I buy names as an end user, with one test: would I build on this? The names I haven’t built on yet are the ones I’m open to selling, and AdFunnels.com is one of them.

Starting on the right name matters more now, in my view, than it did when I moved Newswire.com. With AI, a small team can get a usable marketing tool or a polished agency site running in days, so the product itself is easier to reproduce, while a recognizable name is one of the few things that can’t be copied. The usual advice is to settle for something available and upgrade once the business has made it. For an agency or a growth product, that later upgrade means new proposals, new email addresses, new client logins and a name clients have to learn again, and only if the better name is still there when you go looking. An agency that opens on AdFunnels.com can put that effort into its clients instead.

Where OnlineBusiness.com fits

My strategy and development studio is OnlineBusiness.com. It supports the presentations behind PremiumBrands, so each name can be seen in a realistic setting instead of as a bare word on a list. For AdFunnels.com that meant picturing the agency pitch, the product login screen and the in-house growth desk, each with its own first customer. Here is what I believe, plainly: a great name won’t save a bad business. What it gives a good business is a head start, from the first proposal onward.

If AdFunnels.com is the name for your business, tell me what you would build on it and who your first clients would be. If the name you want is a different one, say that instead; PremiumBrands helps founders acquire names that aren’t in the collection. The About This Site page sets out what the purchase includes. A premium .com is a trust shortcut.
